According to an article published in the Rwanda New Times, RwandAir recorded a dramatic growth in 2012. On 22 December, RwandAir set a new record indeed 2.205 passengers flown aboard of RwandAir's aircraft, grossing up to 40 percent more passengers in 2012 compared to previous year—2011.
”We know that we are a fast growing airline, nevertheless we are happy to have set this new record,” John Mirenge told Business Times yesterday.
"Passengers enjoy the quality of our service, our brand new aircraft but also our attractive fares," John Mirenge added.
The growth of the passengers traffic at RwandAir is due to the arrival of two CRJ-900NGs in 2012 and the increase of flights on all its destinations.
According to the RwandAir Commercial Director, Bert van der Stege, RwandAir has recorded good load factor on the Dubai, Johannesburg, Nairobi and Entebbe routes.
RwandAir plans to open new routes to Abidjan (Ivory Cost), Douala (Cameroon), Juba (South Sudan), Lusaka (Zambia) and Zanzibar (Tanzania) this year. The airline plans also to start long haul flights to Asia and Europe, by 2015, with a pair of Boeing 787s Dreamliner.
