Finally, after months of waiting, the Brussels Airline's parent company seems to be on the right track. The airline plans to begin flights in April 2012.

After the failure of Air DC and difficulties that Korongo has coped with the DR Congo governement, everybody thought that Brussels Airlines has planned to let down the project. Some people have even said that Brussels Airlines has relaunched disscussions with RwandAir (put on hold in 2007).

Korongo Airline has announced that, it will start flights to Rwanda, probably to benefit of a patnership with RwandAir, which has also a patnership with Brussels Airlines, on the Kigali-Brussels-Kigali route.*

The airline will be based at Lubumbashi, the capital of Katanga, one of richest regions in Democratic Republic of Congo. The airport is served by South African Airways Express, Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airlines. The Korongo's fleet will be composed of one B737-300 and two BAE-146s.

According to various artciles it seems that the man who blocked the start-up of Korongo was Augustin Katumba Mwanke, the senior adviser of president Kabila and owner of Katanga Express who died in a crash in Bukavu about ten days ago .
