RwandAir at Routes Africa 2012
During two days (8 July - 10 July), Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles has hosted the Routes Africa 2012.
Routes Africa is a network development forum, which bring together route development professionals from across Africa, the Middle East and beyond to discuss the latest developments within the region and establish potential for new air traffic routes to, from and within Africa (Routes Online).
For the 2012 forum, RwandAir was among participants. The airline was represented by the new commercial director, Bert Van Der Stege. He has made several announcements.
Commercial :
RwandAir will use Routes Online for network growth. According to Routes Online, it's means that, "the airline has agreed in principle to launch a Request for Proposals (RFP) via Route Exchange and is working with Routesonline ahead of a formal launch of this process in the coming weeks. The initial stage of this process will invite airports to fill out a Pre Qualifying Questionnaire (PQQ) to deem their suitability to meet the basic operational and performance requirements of the airline’s aircraft. Once airports have met the terms of the PQQ, they will then be sent the formal RFP where they can complete a pre-defined data requirements spreadsheet (mandatory) and a proposal document e.g. presentation or word document (mandatory)".
Fleet :
RwandAir will take delivery of its first CRJ-900NG, in october 2012. The second one will arrive, on november 2012. Futhermore, two more CRJ-900NGs (options) could be join the fleet in 2013. The airline has also announced that, more B737NGs could be join the airline in a near future.
Destinations :
While the airline has just started flights to Mwanza (Tanzania), Bert Van Der Stege has said that, more destinations on the African continent will be added in November 2012.
