While RwandAir has just finished rotations between Darfur (Sudan) and Kigali (HERE), the airline has just began rotations between Rwanda and South Sudan, with a B737-800.

Statement from the Rwanda MOD :

The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) is conducting a relief in place operation for the Rwandan battalion (3 Infantry Battalion) serving under United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). On 15 February 2013, 292 officers and men of 47 Infantry Battalion departed from Kigali International Airport to Juba, the Capital of Republic of South Sudan.

The same number from 3rd Infantry Battalion arrived back home the same day from Juba where they were deployed. RDF Relief in place Operation for Peacekeepers comes after a nine-month tour of duty.

The RDF Army Chief of Staff welcomed and congratulated those coming from UNMISS for the mission accomplished. He urged 47 Infantry Battalion leaving for mission to maintain discipline and be good ambassadors for their country.

The Rwanda Defence Force began to deploy in South Sudan as part of a newly created UN-backed stabilisation mission (UNMISS) in April 2012.
