The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and foreign airlines with offices at the international terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMIA), Lagos may be heading for a showdown following the two weeks ultimatum given to the airlines by FAAN to relocate from the offices at the departure hall to the 4th and 5th floors.

Sources said  FAAN was quitting the airlines from their offices because it has plans to reallocate the offices to private firms that might use them as shops for boutiques, restaurants or for other businesses.

Some of the airlines  affected by the quit order include British Airways, Air France- KLM, Aero, Ethiopian Airlines, Rwanda Air and others.

The president, Association of Foreign Airlines Representatives of Nigeria (AFARN),  Mr Kingsley Nwokoma, said FAAN should give priority to airlines in any of its decisions because the airport was built with the airlines in mind. According to him, the airlines have some concerns about the relocation order as it might affect their businesses negatively.
