Sheraton Kigali to Open in 2023

In Kigali, construction of Sheraton Hotel Kigali began in April last year in the golf course area of Kigali – as part of a $200m Century Park and Hotel Residences project. The 136-room Sheraton Kigali will feature signature Sheraton experiences, including the state-of-the-art equipment like the Sheraton Club Lounge and rooms and many others

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Century Park and Hotel Residences Ltd. to open a new Sheraton hotel in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. Scheduled to open in 2018, Sheraton Kigali will mark Starwood’s entry into Rwanda and will be the company’s 50th hotel in Africa. With this signing, Starwood is on track to increase its African portfolio by over 30% with more than 15 new hotels to open over the next five years.

Speaking at an award ceremony in honour of travel agents in Kenya, Sabre East Africa managing director Nazma Jamal said the region's tourism sector has a huge potential and is poised for a remarkable growth. Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, a US hotel chain, plans to open six hotels in Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar in the next three years under the Sheraton franchise. Century Park Hotel & Residences Ltd plans to develop a five star hotel that will be managed by an international hotel management group (Starwood under the Sheraton brand). Negotiations are under way for a 185- hotel bed and 15 apartment rooms 5 star hotel estimated to cost over $66million. This will be the fourth 5 star hotel in the country after Kigali Serena Hotel, Kigali Marriott Hotel and Kigali Convention Centre both under construction.
