Ethiopian, the fastest growing airline in Africa, is pleased to announce that its Boeing 787 Dreamliner is painted in Ethiopian livery and is at the final stages of preparation for delivery.
After being painted with the colors of green, yellow and red, today the Ethiopian Dreamliner will fly back to Seattle from San Antonio, Texas. Ethiopian is proud to be the first in Africa to fly this much awaited, state-of-the-art aircraft in mid August 2012. (Ethiopian Airlines)
Like in 2006, Ethiopia is the first African's country to host a new aircraft. Indeed, in 2006 the A380 operated its first flight in Africa with a stop in Ethiopia, during its world tour. 5 years later, it's the Boeing 787 which makes its first step in Africa, at Addis Ababa, the Ethiopia's capital .
Kenya will be the second country in Africa to see the aircraft. Here are some pix taken by www.deepethiopian.com. A special thank to him :-).
Lots of people have came to see the Dreamliner to make its first step in Africa.
Ethiopian Airlines will be the first airline in Africa to operate the Boeing 787.
This Boeing 787 (N787BX) is only a display aircraft. This is a basic seat configuration.
In both pix, we see a part of Ethiopian Airlines's long haul fleet (B777-200LR, B767-300ER and B787-8).
Now it's time to fly to Nairobi (Kenya) :-).
Karibu katika Kenya!!!!
As December 2011, 5 African airlines ordered B787s, and one signed a LOI (Letter of Intention) for 2 B787s. See the table below.
Air Seychelles will cease all its long haul flights from early 2012. It seems that its order of 2 B787s, could be canceled.
