Another beautiful little nocturnal creature commonly found in Akagera. These little solitary carnivores look very similar to cats however they belong to the mongoose family. They feed on a wide variety of food items including rodents, insects, scorpions as well as plants. They are commonly found close by human habitation in Akagera. They are preyed upon by python, owls and leopards.

Night drives are great opportunities to find nocturnal birds such as this magnificent little Pearl spotted owlet (Glaucidium perlatum).
